This course is designed to provide participants with the ability to implement skills to research, analyse, interpret, and understand the concepts in the Buddhist texts as they apply to society.
It will provide participants with a range of knowledge, and skills to implement analytical skills to interpret the message of Buddhist texts from what is known as Liaofan’s Four Lessons, The Discourse on the Ten Wholesome Ways of Action, The ‘Chapter on the Highest Level of Rebirth’ from the Contemplation Sutra, The ‘Chapter on the Perfect and Complete Realisation of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva’ from the Surangama Sutra, Infinite Life Sutra, Precepts for Novice Monks and apply to contemporary society as related to self-cultivation.
Participants will also be able to develop and apply advanced traditional Chinese music skills and develop lectures on sutras.

Entry Requirements 入學要求 |
1. Provide a notarized (English-translated) Year 12 Certificate in Australia (Senior High School Certificate) or an overseas equivalent qualification recognized by an accrediting authority.
2. Attend an online workshop and pass the academic and virtue assessments given by the Department of Sinology Studies.
3. Recommend completing the English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS)*.
Exemptions: Applicants who have successfully completed the 10958NAT Certificate IV in Sinology Studies or an approved pathway qualification may be exempt from the above requirements, subject to academic review.
*Although the course is mainly taught in Mandarin, students need strong English skills, especially for the Sinology/Buddhist Studies-related English unit NAT11126010 Develop and apply advanced English skills related to religious or philosophical contexts. Applicants from an English-speaking background and/or with sufficient English skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) are exempt from ELICOS.

1. Take your Sinology studies to a higher level. 2. Assist in teaching a variety of Sinology programs in Australian language schools where a higher education degree is not required. 3. Develop Sinology programs, especially in conjunction with teaching, at Australian* or overseas language schools. 4. Be an instructor or counsellor of traditional Chinese culture and values. * Some employment positions might also require other teaching qualifications, like Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
